I have some key employees – what could I do to incentivise them?

Incentivising key employees helps to maintain or even boost motivation and engagement, and generally improves job satisfaction. There are a number of ways you can do this:

Monetary incentives in the form of gift cards/vouchers, bonuses, pay rises.

Opportunity for professional development in the way of training, clear promotion targets and progression pathways.

Lifestyle and wellness benefits including gym memberships, lifestyle coaching and access to mental health and counselling services

Extra holidays or flexible/hybrid working options.

Stock options and profit sharing are longer term incentives, with the ability to increase in value over time, making them a good investment for attracting and retaining talent.

Remember that sometimes, just some acknowledgement, recognition and a simple thank you is enough!

Of course, some incentives and benefits will have tax implications for you and your business, so it’s always worth getting advice on which incentives are best for your circumstances. Our blog “P11D forms – all you need to know” might offer some insight.
